About Professor Shirley

Dr. Sergei Andronikov has over 30 years of academic experience serving as an Academic Administrator, business professor and researcher in the universities in S-E Asia, the Netherlands, United Kingdom and three different states in the US, also administering Business Programs including MBA/EMBA and Executive Education. Twice he was awarded with Royal Society Fellowship, UK.

Professor Robert Shirley holds an undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College in Russian, an MBA from the University of Chicago (Marketing, Strategic, and General Management), and a Master’s of Arts in Secondary Teaching with certifications in ESL and bilingual education from National Louis University. Over the 1990’s, he logged several years of work experience in the former Soviet Union. Assignments ranged from trying to open a pizzeria in Moscow to conducting a study on wholesale gum pricing across Russia, the Caucasus, Ukraine, and Central Asia for the William Wrigley Junior Company.

Professor Shirley began working in education in 2005, and he has taught ESL and business English for over ten years to students from a variety of backgrounds and countries.

Hobbies include a current reading of The Brothers Karamazov in the original, comparing English and Russian grammar constructions, Thai and Sichuan cooking, reading, hiking, and spending time with family. He especially loves furnishing students with confidence and intellectual energy through all the hills and valleys of second language learning.
